Waldo County official, state police respond to incident in Unity [Video]

Unity volunteer fire officials said a rescue ATV was needed in order to get to the injured person, who was located about a mile in the woods off Albion Road.

UNITY, Maine — Emergency officials responded Thursday morning to a developing incident in Unity in which a person reportedly suffered a gunshot injury.

Waldo County dispatchers confirmed Thursday morning that LifeFlight had been called to help transport a person with a gunshot injury.

Interim Fire Chief David Smith told NEWS CENTER Maine the person was about a mile into the woods on rough trails that required use of an ATV to get them out. The person was then transported from the ATV directly onto the helicopter for transport to a hospital for care.

Maine State Police is assisting the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office with the incident, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said.
