Wanted: Candidates for vacant Marietta and Love County positions – KTEN [Video]

MARIETTA, Okla. (KTEN) — Kermit McKinney was elected mayor of Marietta in April, and since then, both his seat on the City Council, and one more have opened up. This is just a couple of positions that city and county officials are looking to fill.

Along with McKinney’s northeast seat, the seat of southwest ward member Candace Dixon is also up for grabs. After McKinney was elected mayor, the city council began trying to find a replacement for his seat. However, after 60 days, and still no replacement, taxpayers will decide in an election. The seat previously held by Dixon, will be chosen differently

“Basically, we’ll put an advertisement in the paper that there is a vacancy.” Explained city administrator Scott Chaney. “You can turn that into City Hall, the mayor goes over those applicants, and he presents the applicants with his recommendation to the council.”
