Surveillance cameras, traffic cameras, Ring cameras and video recording devices are everywhere you look. You should have no doubt that you are on camera anytime you are in a public place like a restaurant, a government building, or while walking down the street.The city of New Orleans has hundreds of them watching over us 24/7 and all of us have a smartphone with a camera at the ready, also 24/7.This issue has now been thrust into the public spotlight since the mayor cried foul after her picture was taken while eating on a balcony in the French Quarter.Unless you are in a private place, like your home, you’re probably fair game to have your picture taken.So, while the mayor works out her legal complaint, there is a lesson for all of us.You should always assume you are being videotaped, recorded or photographed when you are in a public place.
