We have to work together to help those impacted by domestic violence [Video]

VIENNA, W.Va. (WTAP) – Vienna Police Chief, Carl Powell, says that Domestic Violence is physical or mental abuse between two people.

Family Crisis Intervention Center’s Executive Director, Emily Larkins, shares some national statistics on Domestic Violence.

“One in four women and one in seven men are often, or can, be affected by an intimate partner relationship in their lifetime dealing with Domestic Violence, stalking, and sexual violence,” said Larkins.

Law enforcement has a special way they handle calls about Domestic Violence according to Chief Powell.

“Obviously, when they are first on the scene, they try to figure out who the aggressor is, whether it was the male or female or who the primary aggressor was. From there, they are going to separate them and try to get them to different locations if there is not going to be an arrest made. They will also advise them on how to obtain …
