White House rolls out new rule to increase background checks for gun sales [Video]

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – In D.C., the Biden Administration and the Department of Justice submitted a final rule in the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act of 2021.

Supporters said it is an effort to decrease the number of trafficked guns in the United States.

According to the ATF, more than 60,000 firearms were illegally trafficked from 2017 to 2021. The new rule aims to end the cycle.

“It’s a proven strategy to reduce gun violence and save lives,” said Stefanie Feldman, the director of the White House’s Office of Gun Violence Prevention.
