LONDON – Princess Anne, King Charles’ younger sister, was discharged from the hospital Friday after a five-night stay due to a minor head injury.

Buckingham Palace said Monday that the 73-year-old had suffered minor injuries and a concussion following an incident at her Gatcombe Park estate Sunday night.

There were horses in the vicinity at the time of the incident and her medical team said the head injuries were consistent with impact from a horse’s head or legs, according to the TODAY Show.

Anne, a former Olympic equestrian, is believed to have suffered a concussion and been unable to recall what happened.

She was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, west England.

“The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery,” the palace said in a statement Monday.

Princess Anne is the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth.
