Wildfire Community Preparedness Day [Video]

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Preparedness Day encourages people and organizations to work together to accomplish initiatives that will help make their homes and communities safer from wildfires.

May 4 is Wildfire Community Preparedness Day and May 10 is the anniversary of this campaign.

Over the last five years, wildfires have destroyed over 32,000 structures, the majority of which were homes.

This number will likely increase as growing wildfire activity encounters a large number of communities located in wildfire-prone zones.

Michele Steinberg, Director of the Wildfire Division of National Fire Protection Association joins the Digital Desk to discuss more.
