Will you be able to see northern lights in Texas? [Video]

TEXAS, USA — An unusually strong solar storm could produce northern lights in the U.S. this weekend and potentially disrupt power and communications. But will you be able to see them in Texas?

Unfortunately, meteorologist Kim Castro says it’s not likely. According to NOAA, they may be visible as far south as Alabama and Northern California. But if you look low on the horizon at around 8:05 p.m. as the sun sets,, there is a chance you  could catch a glimpse.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued a rare severe geomagnetic storm warning when a solar outburst reached Earth on Friday afternoon, hours sooner than anticipated. The effects were due to last through the weekend and possibly into next week.
