Woman dies in Henrico after jumping from bridge over I-64 [Video]

Henrico County police reported that a woman died Monday after jumping from a bridge over Interstate 64. 

Emergency communications received multiple calls at around 6:33 a.m. from citizens concerned about an adult female standing on the Parham Road bridge over I-64 East. Police reported that officers arrived on scene and attempted to have a dialogue with the female subject.

Shortly after, she jumped from the bridge into oncoming traffic. The woman was declared dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. Police said next of kin has been notified of the woman’s death.

The ramp was closed for much of the morning. As of 10:42 a.m., one lane on the interstate had reopened.

Virginia State Police assisted Henrico’s police division, which is currently investigating the incident.
