TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. — An accident at a road construction site left a person dead on Friday.
According to a press release, Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of US Highway 231 South and County Road 800 South around 12:04 p.m. after receiving a report about a person who was struck by a vehicle. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered a person suffering from critical injuries.
The person was later transported to IU Health Arnett Hospital. The worker died while being treated in the hospital’s emergency department, per TCSO.
After investigating the incident, deputies determined the driver of a 2005 Mack dump truck backed into the worker. Police are still looking into the exact circumstances that led to the person’s death.
The decedent’s identity will be released by the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office after their family has been properly notified of their death.
