City of Jacksboro looking forward to new Water Treatment Plant [Video]

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – The City of Jacksboro has spent the past 12 years trying to make progress on building a new Water Treatment Plant.

The current water treatment facility is 80 years old.

“It’s very labor intensive, very high maintenance and it’s just kind of falling down around itself,” City of Jacksboro City Manager, Michael Smith said.

The treatment plant hasn’t had any issues to date and has provided citizens in the community with fresh water for years.

10 years ago, the City of Jacksboro started the process by going to the Texas Water Development Board in hopes of receiving funding for a new plant.

“Because we produce good water, because we haven’t had any issues or concerns that they call non-compliance issues with our water treatment plant we make the list but we are way down below so, they want to spend that money on projects that are either failing or about to fail,” Smith said.
